Answers to Type 2 Diabetes question
I've just learned that I am diabetic, put on Metformin and told to take my bs at least three to four times a day. What I am having a problem with is I discovered that I have been eating much less then the 45 carbs per meal I was told to eat. My bs seems to be going up and up. My question is if I am not eating enough, will that make my bs go up?
I know that exercise is vital however I have severly degenerated spine, bulging discs, osteo arthritis and my doctor wants me to avoid all exercise. Any suggestions?

Hello Healthy Living,
There is not doubt you have some complicated issues. Typically I would like to know what the blood sugar level is however, without that this is my initial recommendation. Keep in mind it not necessarily the quantity but the quality and combination of the foods you eat. Generally speaking eat about twice the volume of vegetables as fruits. Mostly raw or lightly steamed for now. I would then recommend a medical food that I have used with great success and have taken blood sugar levels down by as much as 100 points in 30 days. I suggest UltraGlycemX 3 servings a day as well as 3 grams of EPA-DHA with every meal. I also suggest you thoroughly read the insert that came with the Metformin.
As for the exercise I appreciate your concerns however, you would be fine to use a water aerobics class and or swimming, I suggest with supervision to start. In addition a recumbent bike could also be used. Moving the body is good for you. If you can sit long enough to read this and can walk to your mailbox then you can use the above exercise program start with what ever time frame is comfortable such as 5 min. DAILY. Then you can build from there.
